Colors of Lightning

Hi! I was wondering if there is a way to change the colors of lightning. Thanks.

In a word... yes... kind've. The lightning animation is stored in a TXM file in the FX folder (I believe it's called "lightning.txm", but I may be wrong- haven't messed with that one yet). It's a TGA file, and you can change the RGB values of the TGA to suit.

But can you customize the colors of lightning everywhere? No, I don't think you can. You can call out a RGB value/values for laser beams, for the Tractor Beam... I don't think you can do it for other things. Y'know, this might be worth taking the time to research, now that I know how to make ALEs do some new tricks. I'll get back to y'all about this...

I don't ever know if you mean lightning as we see in real life, or as we see in nebulae, the background flashes...

Please explain.

Argh:

Thanks man, I really appriecate that.

FF:

I mean the flashes you see in the nebula. Like in Sigma-13 on the way to the jumphole to Sigma-17(?)

Then, look for this in your nebula INI File :
[BackgroundLightning
duration = 0.750000
gap = 10.000000
color = 55, 50, 60

Color is a RGB value of the color. Hope this helps

The problem is I only want it to change for one system. Thanks though!

In that case, create a copy of the nebula in this file, name it something else and use that one in the system file.
