Server Side Loot mods

What change do you make for players to be lootable on a server it's been 2 years since I last edied so I have forgotten

There are unhelpful people that will tell you to use the search function on the main page next time and then not provide a link. That I regard as spamming the board.

I used wrong search terms on search so I got nothing when I did. IS thier a way to limit it to just unmounted weapons and cargo?

Afraid not. its all or nothing type of mod, it will unload everything that is in the cargo hold of the deceased, bats, bots, missiles and guns. With the drop fuse there is no way to filter individual items.

Another problem with the fuse is that unless you create new arch entries for the playerships the npcs will unload all their goods just as redily as players. Okay if you have modestly armed npc's but a right pain if you have the heavily armed with missiles\torps variety. Suddenly you can find yourself surrounded by rippermines, cannonballs and sunslayers. All very nice at 7000 odd bux a time i'm sure for players, people can make millions just hanging round a jumphole not doing any work. Not something to be encouraged

From the code it looked limited to me but I was hoping I missed something. So I would need to add a second shiparch file for player ships or what?

Are you trying to make PC ships drop their loot, NPC ships or both?

If both then no, just add the fuse line to all the ship entries in the shiparch file.

If you are after an either or idea (not a good one to do just to NPC's in my mind) then yes you will need duplicate entries, one with the drop cargo fuse and one without. Make sure to give them different names, but you already knew that.

follow up question:

when this mod is applied the "playerxxx has died" message no longer posts after a player is killed. Is this fixable?

I've been checking out the freeworlds mod on a couple of servers and noticed that while they have player looting in that mod that the message "playerxxx has died" still comes up. It seems to me that there's something in there that can be used. Anyone have any ideas?
