Well... using Fled_ids you pull up a ship that is already there and modify the entries with new numbers.
It goes like this: In the Shiparch.ini file there are 5 numbers for each ship.
1. The ids_name entry, a simple text entry with anything you want to put there like Howler Mk2 for instance. Then click the "save ids_name" button on the Fled_ids form, click yes when it demands to know if you really want to save this stuff and that is done!
2. The ids_info entry. This is a list of attributes that your ship has... guns/turrets, hull strength, hold size, nanos and bats, M, CM, CD/T or mines, coutermeasures, and Cruise Disruptor/Torpedo mounts. If you pull up an ids_info card from another ship, use it for a template, change the number to whatever you are giving your new ship's ids_info and then put in your info and save it by clicking on the "save ids_info" button on the Fled_ids form. Do not remove the html refrences, but only type over the stuff between the <text> markers.
3. ids_info1 entry. This is the actual "blurb" for the ship. Your description of what it is and what it is intended for if you are inclined to add such things. Again, write over only the stuff between the <text> markers after putting your new number (do that immediately after pulling up a "template" example to fill in and you won't be overwriting anything you want later when you save the entry.) in the box. Then save again.
4. ids_info2... This is a generic text that is in one of the descriptions in the shipdealer's page when in the game. You can use this for all your entries... 66608 is the stock one. No need to change it, but if you have your own dll, you could make one for yourself and use it in all your ship entries. Just put your new number in the box you used to pull up this example and save it with your new number.
5. This is ids_info3. It is similar to ids_info as it contains the same information but goes into a different place in the shipdealer's page in the game. Again... just pull up one from a known ship, put in your new number and overwrite the information appropriate to your new ship then click the "save the ids_info" button on the Fled_ids form.
Now you have a new inforcard for all the information needed in the shipdealer's page when you go to a base to buy a ship.
Of course, you will have made entries in shiparch.ini, goods.ini, and market_ships.ini for all this to work and for the ship to be available at the appropriate shipdealer, but you already knew that.
