Changing the jumpgate sound effect

I created a new jump effect and now I want it to have another sound effect than the standard jump effects. So overwriting the sound file is not a solution here. But I have found no entry pointing to a sound in the jump effect entries.

Is it possible that the sound used for jump tunnels is hardcoded? If not, how can it be changed?

Hmm. I would've thought that you'd find an INI reference for this somewhere. It may, indeed, be hardcoded. However... I have a feeling it's not, or if it is, then the jumpgate_rheinland, jumpgate_liberty, etc. entries (which aren't used, etc.) may point to a different audio file.

I'll have to check this out when I'm home again

Well, I don't think they point to different audio files, cuz there is only one for each part of the jump sequence, namely jump_flight.wav, jump_in.wav and jump_out.wav.

The two last ones are refered to at the top of jumpeffect.ini. But the first one isn't.

Look in the audio folder... and find the references to "jump". I can't say for certain from here- I've never messed with this particular aspect of FL's sound- but I suspect you'll find references there.

And if that isn't productive... you can always alter the existing file to be a null, and make the jump-in and jump-out have back-to-back bits of the jump sounds, and adjust their timing to appropriate lengths- prior experimentation has shown that sounds will continue to play if they started previous to entering the Jumpgate.

The thing is, that the jump-in and jump-out files are also defined for all jump tunnel effects, not just for one. So this solution won't work either.

I've tried looking through what has been posted, but i can't really understand what you mean. What actually do you want new sounds for jumpgates/holes, passing through the jump tunnel or tradelanes?
