Aussie Mod

Hey guys, you probly ain't seen me around before but I've been spending a lot of time reading all the different stuff available here. I'm interested in adjusting the game for an aussie feel. You know instead of america being the main focus I'm gonna start at new canberra and so on and so forth. Anyway this will be my post were I'm gonna ask the questions that I have so here goes.

1. How do I remove the story completely so I can start from scratch like you do in mp. If this is just general ini modding then point me toward the right files and I can prbly do it from there.

2. in the Universe.ini file there is a property for the systems called msg_id_prefix. What is it and how can I make one for my own systems.

and 3. Is anybody working on a cmp exporter for a program other than milkshape? I like the program but it's a real pain being a student with so little cash. (I've used the trail period and wondering how long it will be, if ever, before there is a free program that can achieve the same results.) If it's going to be a long time I guess I'll find the moolah somewhere but I don't want to send of for an activation code and then find out there was a free one.

Anyway thanks in advance guys I shall check frequently for more info and will post regularly for any questions I have

Welcome to TLR Crofty .

The "msg_id_prefix = gcs_refer_system_Li01" tells the game which part of the voice utf's to use for that system,in this case the New York system.Unfortunatly I haven't heard of anybody thats managed to add new voices to these files yet.

The best way to get rid of the story line is to grab the Open SP mod, and copy the mission files and the content.dll into your mod. Basically it sets it so that you start at level 1 but having 'completed' mission 13 already, at least I think that's how it works.

Ok thanks guys,
So will the fact that I don't have a voice file be a problem? Or will I just have to use existing ones. What do they actually do. Does this voice file refer to all voice files in the system or just certain ones. I suppose they just relate to the voices for people you meet in space. Ok I will look into it, see if I can come up with anything. I would like to record totally new voices so I'll keep looking

Did anyone else have a problem with the empty dll file? I can't access 458754 it just comes up with a runtime error and closes the Fled-ids.

The msdid_prefix thingy is just what makes the NPCs says stuff like:
I see you're headed to New York too.

Except there are several messages grouped together for some variety. If you pick a system close to the one you're making, it won't sound too off to reuse the existing ones.

I'm not sure if anybody has had success rerecording these messages and compiling, but I'd like to know if they have too.
