Question about Trade-Lanes

Ok, I never quite got into modding. Partially because I don't have the programs to model ships, which is what I would really like to do. Another reason being that no one seems to go into detail about the way to customize weapons.

Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone has tried putting tradelance closer together to find out if it would increase the speed at which your ship would accelerate. this is not the only reason this might be done. it might also look cool to have 2-3 sets of lights turning on and off moving in the direction the tradelane goes. Reply if you have any idea about this please

Hammond in reference to Cassie levitating and spinning the knight chess piece: "How can she do that?"
Jack: "Magnets. Magnets, every, every one of those pieces has got a little tiny magnet in the bottom, to hold it on the board when you're driving so it doesn't rattle off. Anyway, every one of those magnets has got a little electrical field around it, that's how she was able to manipulate it. Magnets." Hammond stares blankly. "They do look like horses." Doc, Daniel, and Teal'c stare blankly.

Tradelane Rings distance has really no effect unfortunately, as the speed is locked at 2500. Even by moving them tight or really spaced changes nothing

To model ships, the only program you really NEED is Milkshape3D from ChumbalumSoft, along with the CMP (and MAT) exporter(s).
If you want a different modelling program that is free, (but you'll still have to have MS3D) you can get gMax, made by the same folks that make 3DStudio Max from TurboSquid.com. You'll need the .md3 exporter plugin to get those models into Milkshape, though.
