Cityscapes / Planetscapes (THN files)

Hello all,

I planned to do some simple Cityscape editing, so that the landing site of my custom planets don't look exactly the same like the original planets.

So, I decompiled the THN files that were called upon in the cityscape.ini (I used FLED-THORN), and renamed them.

I didn't edit anything, but now they don't work properly at all. When I dock to the planet, I see a full-screen image of the planet's sky with a large rectangle image of the planetary background centered on it , and some anti-gravity rings (where, I guess, the player ship should have been). The icons don't even show up., so the game can be considered "stuck" at this point.

Doe anyone have an idea of what I could be doing wrong? Has anyone succeeded to change a cityscape? I've read that FLED-THORN can be buggy, and that THN files are a pain anyway, but I also get the impression that people got further than this.

(Btw,I don't plan to do major changes; just change the background landscape would satisfy me)

Thanks in advance!

.thn files are really LUA files. I've not tried but a standard lua encoder/decoder from the net should do the trick (lua32 is the windows binary if memory serves).

Good to see you around btw moonhead

I shall look into that... I already did some searches but didn't find something useful yet. Strange thing is (but I don't know sh*t about this lua script language) that there don't seem to be any errors in the files I decompressed with FLED-Thorn...

Wait, might it be something like the srcipt.xml not working when edited with Notepad (You have to use Wordpad for that) ?? But then again, I didn't even edit or save the decrompressed files, so that can't be it. Unless just looking at them with Notepad is already enough to ruin the file... Is that possible?

Thanks The nasty family matter I told you about some months ago, is still there, but has become part of normal life, and I found myself longing for Sirius and its unchartered regions I also found out that my would-be larger-than-life expansion mod is a total chaos, so I'm redoing it completely. Itwas a pleasant surprise to me that the FLSpew file could actually be smaller than 4 MB
