Mod Suggestions

O.k., I'm not sure if anyone has made a thread about this before or not, but here it is.

O.k., I'm not a modder. I have no experience with mods (except using them )


Any way, You can post some ideas here, and if a MOD maker happens to come by, well, cool!



I got one I would like if possibe:

A Mod where you can join a faction with the optoins similar to Chip's Open SP mod when you activate it. Some option are:

1.What Faction do you want to be identified as?---I'm not sure but, I think burried in the coding is how. Uhm. I can't describe it. Here's and in game example...

Your flying by West Point. A convoy comes by. It says "Incoming liberty heavy fighter patrol blah blah blah." The fighters respond: This is Navy Alpha 7<----THAT LINE RIGHT THERE!!!! THIS IS NAVY ALPHA 7--- THAT SHOULD BE IN THE AUDIO FILES SOMEWHERE!!!!



Anyway, #2: Costume selection. Kind of like the on Chips has on his mod.

3: Ship start---(i.e., defender, sabre ect.)

4: Weapon Loadout


Like I said. I am not a MOD maker and every time I try to mod, fl coruppts. so if u guys could make one that'd be awsome.

you are indeed right, the 'navy alpha seven is in audio files, but not as you think it is.

Its like this:

West point base ini entry:
audio_set: lib_ba_1_fem (not what it is, i know, i just using an example)

and there would be a file somewhere that is called 'lib_ba_1_fem' that has various text strings:
'Liberty'
'Bretonia'
'Rheinland'
'Navy'
'police'
'alpha'
'beta'
'gamma'
'1'
'2'
'3'
'4'
'5'
'6'

The speech is simply generated by using each of the sound strings in sequence corresponding to the designation. Thats why the voice never sounds quite smooth.

As for modifying the code to change te player's designation, im not sure, but it may very well be possible, as it is done in multiplyer. Ive been called 'freelancer Alpha 16-1' before

Well, my idea is basically to expand the types of missions you can accept so that smugglers and explorers can have a bit more fun. These missions include smuggling unique cargo from point A to point B, search and rescue missions, and cargo hauling contracts for specific factions.
