I too tried this, and ran into problems. In order for ammo to be actually sold WITH the missile launcher, the ammo MUST be set to sell at the base. You can get around this simply by making it so that the ammo itself is worth 0, which means it never shows up in the screen for sale! Good stuff eh?
Only problem is that by buying and selling the missile launchers (we called them pods instead), you could fill up with ammo......in a rather alarming way!
The idea was that the players bought a missile pod, fired the ammo, sold and rebought the pod to rearm (ie, the launchers were 'disposable'.
All worked fine until during testing it was noted ammo could be 'stacked'.
If you bought the pod with 20 ammo or something, you could sell, and rebuy it. However, you still had the ammo left! To make matters worse, it also seemed to bypass the Ioncross/server too - and you could stack THOUSANDS of 'packs' of ammo, then launch and fight. Once that was done, fire off your load of missiles, and it 'auto-reloads' so to speak - whislt flying - so you can fire another round.
The troubles we had with this meant that even though its still there in our last mod, it will be removed...it could be abused way too easily. Of course, since the ammo was free - you could buy and resell the launchers for the same price - until you had thousands of FREE rounds of ammo for fighting.
So even with limits on ammo, its possible to get round it.
