Lights?

Is it possible to change your ship lights in multiplayer? I wanted to see if I could use it on a server. If so, what is the file nickname in the loadout.ini file for an eagle? There is so many ships in the file and I can't find the one for it.

If you are trying to change the lights on player ships, you dont need to edit loadouts.ini. You need to edit goods.ini. The name of the package is gf6_package

Yes, but lights can also be changed in the player file (both singleplay and multiplaywe!) afterwards. If you have ever played on the K-Play.de Hamburg City server and joined the forums there, you will find a cool light shop where you can buy lights that will then be put on the desired light hardpoints in your playerfile, pretty neat.

Mavsurfer, there is no reason to start a new thread for asking another question about Lights. I have deleted your other thread but will be reposting your message here

I would like to thank everyone for replying back to me. Alot of your info has been very helpful, but I'm having one other problem. I adjusted the ship lights the way I want them in the goods.ini file(notepad), but for some reason they just won't appear in the game. I adjusted the lights in the notepad file that gets automatically put in the folder after you decode the goods.ini.(Still with me I hear that I may have to REBUY my eagle to get it to work. Is this true? Or should they appear automatically once you change the lights.

Yes, you have to rebuy it. Because you can change the lights on your current ship without modifying the goods.ini (use IONCROSS Freelancer Character Editor) or modify goods.ini without affecting your current ship. Simply rebuy the Eagle, you will see the new lights then.

btw: In order to have this affect NPCs as well, you msut go to loadouts.ini and change the lights in the loadouts there, too.

A SaveGame editor would allow him to change his lights without repurchasing it.
Simply edit any savegame.

All of your suggestions seem to be more for singleplayer games only. Is there anyway to change the lights to work on multiplayer. I have seen admins with custom lights. I'm trying to get the lights to work on a server known as Eagle Utopia. Why hasn't anyone made a light mod? I'm sure peeps get tired of looking at the same old ship over and over again.

Ioncross would help. But rebuying the ship after editing goods.ini would work also, the only problem is that it wouldn't work for other players unless they were also using the same goods.ini as you.

i tried doing this custom lights in the goods file but i get kiked for "cheating", the game thinks im cheating because i chnaged lights. gay patch, ruined all my fun, plus i enjoyed using the mine skin and flying around looking like a gigundo mine

Uh...

I'm not totally sure... but I'm pretty sure that you could set up a Package that just had lights in it, without a Hull.

And I don't see any reason (at least no real logical one) why it might not be possible to code up Lights as Goods that you could simply buy in whatever configuration you wanted. After all... they're all mounted, just like any other equipment...

Subrexo: Go play the Hamburg City Freelancer server and sign up on the forums. USe the char manager as described on the forums there. They have a cool light shop, where you can legally put any lights on your ship as long a you can afford it. And no kicking for cherating that way, because everyone may do that.

I was able to make it so that you could sell your lights if you wanted, and sure enough they would come off your ship and it worked in MP just fine. You would fly around with no lights (and others saw this too).

However, I tried hard to make lights sellable at bases, but unfortunately, I never could get that to work correctly. It would have been cool to have players be able to equip their ships with custom lights, but oh well. =(

For now, the only real way in MP is to use a save editor, which works fine. In SP you can either use a save editor or else change the goods.ini file and rebuy your ship.

Well, you could make a server where an admin sells you the lights by himself.

How do you use a save editor to change lights? I don't think it would work on multiplayer. What file would you edit?
