A MOD Idea

I havent been playing Freelancer for very long but already I have moved on to internet play.

Heres that I would love to see in the game: (Multiplay)

--- The ability to buy your own base
- Limitations as to where it can be built (Political stance restrictions)
- The ability to customize your base defences and Political stance towards others.
- The need to pay for base expenses on a daily basis

--- The Ability to create AI freighters and AI escorts
- The Ability to give them, GoTo, Escort, Defend, Dock, Buy, Sell - Orders from your spacestation

(A System to define how many AI you can have. A Points Pool of 20 so if a Humpback is worth 10 points then you could have 2 humpbacks, or 1 humpback and 3 defender heavy fighters, or whatever)
------------------------------------------------------------------

If your gonna make a mod, you might as well do something that has some form of relevance to the game, if I as one actually wanted starwars, I would go and bloody well buy a star wars game, know what I mean?

well anyways
take care!

This is an impossible idea, or it would have been already developepd a while ago.

AI ships can't be ordered by players, nor players can buy dockable bases.

So this can be achieved:

Yet building controllable and completly customizable AI ships along with guild stations are not? Thats a shame, but your right, if it was possible, then it probably would have been done

but by looking at this link

It does kinda make you WANT to ask!

Take Care

@Mobius:

What I'm doing with Warriors of the Sky is pretty radical, but it's not reshaping the game engine. I wish that it was possible to do what you're asking (along with a lot of very arcane things that I won't get into, but they'd be very useful for modders), but short of M$ suddenly getting a clue and either providing the community the source code (like they did for Allegience... which I doubt will ever happen) or providing a development SDK so that people can code things from scratch (again... not going to happen), there are a ton of things that are going to remain impossible, sadly.

I really think that M$ has shot itself in the foot over and over again with regards to making its games moddable in general, and with this one in particular... sales would've probably been double what they were if the game wasn't purposefully "closed" and obfuscated so that making new content is a royal pain (today's tools make it easier, but in the beginning, it was amazing that people made anything new whatsoever, and I'm glad they kept hacking away).

I should mention that Mobius isn't a sock puppet or acquaintence of mine, so I'm glad he observed what I'm doing with the Alpha...

now, dont anyone get me wrong. Im not saiying that my idea is remotely possible, but it might get others into thinking...

most of what u were specfying is in the game X2: The Threat. Possibly (i repeat POSSIBLY) somebody could mod that code for FL

X2 just needs an MP mode to make up for its horrid story and bland universe. It has all those features.
