Audio file compression

I've converted a piece of music to .wav format, but it's 25.8 MB! It's only 2 mins 33 secs.
Other mods which have changed music have much smaller .wav files. So what do I do?

Download Wavepad at download.com. You can save files in wave format using mpeg encoding.

I think I used DBPoweramp file converter...........same thing, different name essentially. Fraid you will have to google it though

I used GoldWave Editor or something like that ...
Can convert practically every media type to another.

I remember why I downloaded WavePad now.....I hope that works....

Freelancer only takes music in .wav format though, and Wavepad saves .wav at the high file size if I remember.

There is a very basic one in windows/system32 called soundrec.exe, I think that should be able to change your file to any size you need. I think all of freelancer is 22000 Kbs x mono. Hopefully that should be enough to get you sorted..

GoldWave at: http://www.goldwave.com/

Convert all your soundtracks to:

Bit rate: 56kbps
Channels: 2 (stereo)
Sample rate: 22kHz
Format: MPEG layer-3

Has to be .wav though. I think you're suggesting .mp3?

I hope it works, but if not you can use sndrec.exe. You open the file then go to properties and convert now. There`s a whole list of formats. I think for freelancer, the music is 80kbs x stereo (22k hz) and the dialogue is 80kbs x mono (also 22K hz).
I think it is possible to add new dialogue by opening up the utf file of the pilot then exporting the files in utf. They are .wavs. It would be a nice idea, but it would take so much work that i doubt that anybdy would bother.
Good luck wif your thing anyway..

Your program changed it from 27.9MB to 879kb. I just hope it loads up in game.

Of course it loads up in the game, this is tested.

A converted file has never loaded up for me before
