A rather... unusual infocard problem

All right. I have the IDS Infocard editor. I have made infocards for my Florida system. This is where the trouble begins.

I want to change a few errors in my infocards I made, and add a few things to them. So, like usual, I make sure it (my fl2systems.dll) isn't read-only, I fire up IDS, and type away. Then I click the save button. It says that the save was sucussful. I load up FL... no change. So, I go back, tell it to pull up the IDS Info... it was the same as the old one. So, I retype it, save it, then immediately pull it back up. The changes were not saved. So, I punch in some questionable letters, save, no change.

By this point, I have spouted off some questionable words myself, and I try working on the IDS Name. Same problem. However, when I try to save on a place that doesn't have anything at all, it works fine... until I boot up FLE, and then it becomes locked.

It is quite tiring to work in FLE and having made errors, only to not be able to correct them. What is going on, and how do I fix it?

Make sure another program is not accessing the DLL... like FLServer or Freelancer.

god... FLE...

PEOPLE, DON'T USE FLE!!! see all the problems and bugs?!

no offense to the authors of it, but truthfully people have MUCH less problems with scratch .ini wording. easily found bugs... errors like this dont occur, things are found and organized, and easily copiable......

Giskard provided an 'empty dll' for general use - i would adivse downloading and using that instead!

Give up FLE? You, sir, must be under the influence of a controlled substance. Futhermore, that doesn't get me any closer to solving my problem. Perhaps you should HELP me instead of bashing a utility.

mknote,

He has a point about giving up with FLE. With the amount of bugs it makes in creation, it would be faster to just code the system yourself.

Let's start the down with FLE revolution

Is your .dll set to Read-Only. Right click and select properties. If it's set to read only you can't edit it. Uncheck the box and press apply. Then try to edit it.

mknote,

Controlled substances eh... lol,

FLE also makes a mishmash of your mbases ini files.. which happens to be around the largest *****iest file in freelancer.... by the time you've spent a couple of days hand editing it, I think your attitude to FLE might change ... just a tad

Where do I sign up to join the revolution..

that was a big problem for me... it only ever happens if another program is attempting to access the same folder your MODs in... it took me friggin ages to figure out... before I close FLed-IDS I always copy my work to the clipboard then reload the IDS number you've just edited... if its saved then you're well away... if not then close down any other programs like FLServer, Freelancer, FLMM, or FLExplorer, paste your work in, then save... repeat until successful lol...
