I just tried posting this and it never showed up O_o so if i say this twice please forgive me

I was wondering if it is possible to have turrets fire as i origonally thought they would when i first saw them, they acquire and fire at their own targets. While this means you dont have to worry about them, you cannot concentrate your fire. But it allows for turrets that can't actually fire forward to be of some use while tailing another ship. I was just wondering if this is possible or if it has been done? and if so could someone direct me to it
