Base Structure and Archetecture

Hey everyone, been a while since i asked a real question lol

I have been getting quite bored with the original bases in the game and the few i have "tried" to make look complex seem to always look a little.....off. I was wondering if anyone out there knows the specifics on object archetecture for bases...IE, Recreating FP7 and Pueblo with the foundation (base) and the building blocks (Objects..ex..fp7 spacedome, x4tanks..etc etc..).

basically i am trying to figure out an "easier" way to add the objects without the 5 hours of trial and error addding a degree to the angle or subtracting a degree in the systems INI.

final question here....how do you raise and lower things? i can rotate on X,Y,Z but ho do you make em go up? is it the second number...IE..

[Object
nickname = LI08_04
pos = -23991, 0, -26960 <====== the zero....what is that...up and down maybe?
ids_info = 65713
behavior = NOTHING
pilot = pilot_solar_easy
dock_with = LI08_04_Base
base = LI08_04_Base
reputation = co_hsp_grp
rotate = 0, 150, 0
archetype = space_shipping01
ids_name = 458880
loadout = space_shipping01_co_01
difficulty_level = 1
space_costume = br_brighton_head, pi_pirate5_body

I don't know about the positioning aspect, but I can answer that "final question" bit. Yes, the middle number is up and down.

thanks dark thats step one in my crusade on making a less boring galaxy

i guess time to get out the ole protractor

hey darkshadow
make sure you download the tradelane calculator...as it is VERY hard to do it without it. I still have hundreds of sheets of paper where i have used a protractor and compass and all that, working out which angles and stuff to put it at. Then i found the calculator...very handy

oh another thing, has anyone managed to make a sloped tradelane yet. What i mean is:

lets say you have a base at 0, 0, 0
and another base at 10000, 1000, 0

so you put a straight tradelane between the two bases
but one of the bases is 1000 up above the other base

so you then move each tradelane up 200 from the last one

so you get something like this

0, 0, 0
2000, 200, 0
4000, 400, 0
6000, 600, 0
8000, 800, 0
10000, 1000, 0

but when you go through the tradelanes you are still facing at a 90 degree angle, your ship is not facing the direction you are moving.
so my question is has anyone figured out a way to change the angle of the tradelane so that it facing the angle you want it to.

It might have something to do with the rotat = 0, 0, 0
I have experimented with it but i have come up empty handed

any input would be great

It does involve the rotate - but the resulting tradelane will only dock correctly one way. The other way...................shoots you off backwards through empty space at tradelane speed.........for ever!

Thnaks for the advice.... but i am not making tradelanes lol

i am trying to make complex base structures... IE. Freeport 7 looking bases

just trying to figure out if there is an easier way to do it other than guesstimating it with lines on paper and protractors and going in and out of freelancer to see the changes....basically wondering if there is a graphical way of adding the objects to the bases

like adding....Shipping Station + shipyardx2 + taknsx4 + 3x fp7 space domes...etc etc etc....

ps.but still thank you for the replies
