Will Custom Ships affect MP?

Will downloading and installing custom ships for my Freelancer game conflict with a server running regular Freelancer and cause major issues? I'm not talking about Total Conversions....just ship / weapon mods...simple cosmetic ones.

Yes, it will be picked up as cheating and can cause a crash of the server. You have to use the same mod as the server.
