remote mines

remote mines

I was thinking, would it be possible to actually create remote mines-- meaning that after you lay a stationary mine, you could go a certain distance away and be able to activate it

Do you think this is possible? It would be an extremely great break through in what we already know of modding, but is it completely not possible?

Idea: maybe we could link some kind of gun (maybe call it detonator?) and make the mine blow up when fired

Main question: Is it completely IMPOSSIBLE, or could we do it some how?

Well the only way I can think of, is to make a mine with a very long fuse . You drop it, fly 4.9k away, and shoot it with a long range laser. (I would of course increase the mines explotion radius and damage).

I dont think you will be able to see the mine from 4.9k unless you keep it targeted when flying away from it.

possible... I thought about doing somethin similar, like havin a gun with no ammo effects (such as the tizona del cid) that does just enough damage to set off the mine and has an extremely long firing range. I could also make the mine visible (or atleast targetable) in the game. I'll think of a few new ideas for this and maybe make somethin like this work.

Other question of mine: Do you think it is possible to make a mine that is never destroyed such as the normal mines seen in places like zone 21? I mean like one you launch, with the same archetype, but that will never be gone?

If you did manage to make one of the mines that kills me so often(lol) that would be sweet...except the getting away in time...you'd want to set some sort of time delay for it's activation...

Also...for the remote mine....I think the best way to set it off would be to use a missle with infinite ammo...that like shoots a missle that does just enough damage...and has a small enough radius to just make the mine explode...i don't know if that would work...you could set the speed of the missle really high, as well as the turn radius, so it gets to the mine almost instantaniously

Hammond in reference to Cassie levitating and spinning the knight chess piece: "How can she do that?"
Jack: "Magnets. Magnets, every, every one of those pieces has got a little tiny magnet in the bottom, to hold it on the board when you're driving so it doesn't rattle off. Anyway, every one of those magnets has got a little electrical field around it, that's how she was able to manipulate it. Magnets." Hammond stares blankly. "They do look like horses." Space mines, good idea indeed.
The speed of the mine, the explosion radius and damage can be controlled. I doubt the method of using a gun to set it off. It will destory the mine without it blowing up. I meant, the mine won't damage anything when it has been shot down. We will see the explosion effects but I don't think the mine will cause any damage.

Activate by players is difffcult to do, but put a stationary mine with ultra damage is easy. Set the speed of the mine to a very small number, with huge explosion radius and damage. Sinice it will blow up if any ships "touch" it in the space, planting few hundreads of them can sure make a station feel like zone 21.

PS: forgot to mention the mine disappearing time have to be adjust too.

Peace doesn't exist between the livings, but the dead.

I could always try and make a new fuse or something for it. Such as someone around here made it so that when a ship blew up than it would do damage to surrounding objects... Perhaps the same can be done here?
