Freelancer Explorer problem

I have a problem when I make stations. I give them a name etc and thats fine, but when I fly up to it and hit the info button it tells me its the dunkirk and the rest is classified, I think the infocard is screwed but Im not sure how to repair it, ive read the tutorials in the BIG post but im really lost, the tools I have to use is fled-ids which doesnt explain itself so thats useless to me at the moment and I have visual studio 6 which I can open up my .dll in visual c++ and view the string, I also have no real idea how to use visual studio as i just read I needed it in another tutorial so aquired it but it doesnt say dunkirk anywhere.
Please help or link, thankyou

You read in here somewhere that you need visual studio? For the info card problem Chips wrote a tutorial that works fine. You need to go to the front page and type "FLED ids" into the search box. Download Fledids and Chips' tutorial. (also find "empty dll" while you're at it and download that too)
Good luck.

Edit = I see your second post now, but you need FLED IDS to go with that tutorial and an empty dll.

Thanks, i have both the tutorial and the program. FLExplorer has made my mod.dll for me, is this correct ? do i use this one ? OR do I also use the empty one along side ? I have found my station in my mod.dll but nothing about dunkirk.
Oh and the visual studio was from a tutorial off this site, ejoop i think.

Also the tutorial is about making, i just wanna edit what freelancer explorer has wrongly put in my stations infomating button from 'dunkirk blah blah blah' to 'Such and such station.........'

No, if you've gotten FL explorer to generate a dll for you then you don't need an empty dll. My bad, I didn't know it would do that. What you need to do is open up your system ini (ie JC01.ini). If it was made by FLExplorer it will probably need to be decoded. The easiest way to decode that I've found is FLIni Editor 1.44. Just open the ini in there and then click save. You can also edit in there. Very useful tool.
Once you can read it look for your station. (i.e. JC01_01) Find the "ids_info =" line. That's the one with info about your base. Type that number into FLED ids in the get info box. You can just edit anything in between the text tags and then save what you've done. <text>edit here</text>

Edit = Also take a look at the data\interface\infocardmap.ini located in freelancer. Open up a pair of those numbers in your FLEDids get info box. You can see how they go together. I don't do those because I use the FLMM GENERATE tool, but since you're using a .dll you might want to.

Ive done what you said and found what I want, but im editing it clicking save ids_name for the name and save ids_info for the info and its saying saved but its not saving, the 'dunkirk' description remains.

Have you gone to the EOA forum and checked the FLExplorer thread in there? This might be a common problem people have with FLE and your solution could be in that thread.
I don't know why FLED ids would say saved if it's not saved. I've never had a problem like that.
Note: This sort of issue is why you'll find people do their systems, bases, zones etc. by hand instead of in FLE. It's a great program for use as a sketch pad to rough out what you want, but it leaves out alot of detail that makes what you create truly unique.

1 more thing just to be sure, Ive looked at what files another mod contains and in the exe folder of the package theres a

mod.dll
and a
mod_infocard.dll
as well as a freelancer.ini folder

now im pretty sure (not 100%) that you need the freelancer.ini folder in your package but whats this mod_infocard.dll all about, do I need this ?
Could this be why nothings being saved ?
I really want to learn this but im so close to giving up.

1. You're welcome, sorry I couldn't help more.
2. No you don't need more than one dll.
3. Yes I was under the assumption that having downloaded and read Chips' tutorial that you had a grasp of the process of putting your dll into the exe folder and appending the "DLL = mymod.dll" line under [Resources} in freelancer.ini That's a pretty important step you might have missed there.
4. Read the FLE thread.
5. Reread Chips' tutorial.

Edit = Don't give up. It's alot of fun once you get going. The fact that you even got a base going in the game this quick means you're way ahead of most people.
