Multiple Starting Points

Before anyone starts pointing fingers I'm not asking how to make a starting point. I know this much. What I'm asking is a bit more complicated. I want to know if it's possible to have the player choose his own starting point when he is activating the mod. While this is possible in SP, in MP I doubt it would work as the server needs to have the same starting point as the user. Does anyone know a way around this? I had the idea yesterday but only just realised why it wouldn't work in MP. I'm only asking cause I want to add it to the WW2 Mod that we're making, as it would be a great addon. Anyone who can help please do.

There is a mod, can't remember the name, that lets you pick your starting point. It was put out a few months ago.

It was Chips Open SP I believe, I think it let's you choose your starting costume as well. I doubt it works for MP though...

the way we (excelcia) handle this is this:
we have a starting system. ppl can pick some bribes that set up their reps for the houses, then they can jump through one-way gates into various locations in sirius (one-way to prevent abuse). usually near the house capitols / main bases.

this is the only ingame way i know of on how to set up a MP game so players can choose their startup.

i dont know how to change char costumes ingame.

Char costume can only be changed by direct editing of the save file, so... ask your admin and don't get moosey if (s)he soen't have time to mess about with it

I made a server admin mod - but you need to do a complete character wipe to get the opened jumpgates to work (as its to do with save game corruption otherwise - it adds the locked gates from some saves back into the NEW files that don't have them....therefore locking the gates for everyone! Very strange!)

It lets the admin choose:

Starting location
Starting Rep (I think)
Starting Ship
Starting money
