Variable Cruise Speed?

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but I have searched through this forum and no one seemed to have addressed the topic. Is there any way to make cruise speed unique for each ship? I'm fiddling around with some trek mods and am trying to emulate warp drive without causing problems with the AI when they go into 'orbit' at extreme distance around the system.

@Cincinnatus, Welcome to TLR.
If you had particuler ships to do this on, you could take specific engine, mod the delay on it and use it. Copy it and change the nickname and use it for the new ship. Hope this helps.

i think he meant the cruise speed itself, notthe startup speed.
that is global for all ships. it is set in constants.ini.

however, you can mount 2 engines on a ship, that would double your cruise speed. 3 engines triple and so on...

Should mention the fact that with 2 or more engines, when you cut the engines you ZOooooommm at 999

if you mount another engine when u already have one, won't that unmount the other engine?

no. he means add two engine hardpoints in the shipsarch.ini file and that'll allow two engines to be mounted at the same time.

Heavy, other than a couple of mods, powerplants can not be upgraded, so why not jus mod on with more power or even create another one with the setting you want, that way, NPC's don't have access, and you have the additional power you want. Thought, in SP, NPC's tend to yous the infinite_power supply.

already gave the NPC's the same powerplants as the players
and if this is absolutely NOT possible i would create new powerplants so that players still could upgrade this.

ok , it seems that can get 2 engines mounted . but 1 still gets unmounted when i unmount 1 and the mount it back on

maybe i'm stupid .. but every ships could support 2 engine ?????
for my mod , i have an idea of booster to increase one by one every ships to make custom cruise speed ....
which files must i edited to included 4 level of booster to do additionnal cruise speed ... i have rewrite the freelancer.exe to support no limit cruise speed ( more nice ) )

why only just modify constant.ini to give the same cruise speed to every ships ???
no fun !!!
if we could add extra engine rebuild to add more cruise speed , thats' give more possibility, after we could play this the bonus of normal speed of every extra engine ...
in fact, that's nice to custom your ship speed, with cruise booster, or thruster ... and play a little with bonus speed on evry ships .... you buil your own ship as you want .. not the same as an other players ..
why only custom weapons , and surch the bigger ship ??? no fun
here we can custom more all ships ...
that's my mind ....
