Adding Factions...limits???

ok probobly a stupid question but i have torn through the threads and was wondering something......I am adding factions to this god forsaken mod i have been working on for like a month now...(going insane too many damn numbers lol ) and i finally got to the additional factions stuff....i added one faction the new terran federation navy....but when i tried to add the second new faction....same name but a police version....t_p_grp it seems to crash everytime

everything was fine with the navy...t_n_grp but once i added the police group it just died....so i was wondering if there is a limit to how many factions can be added on top of the original amount... oh by the way a friend of mine is working on that battle ship problem about making them spawn in random missions along with ships...its just soem coding from what he tells me it is in the exe somewhere.....

You should be able to add more than one faction to the game; I have 11 now and I read someone had over 15!

Adding factions is a delicate thing; some errors can trigger desktop crashes when you've just started up the game, even before you get to the menu. Errors that cause a dtc are most probably somewhere in initialworld.ini or empathy.ini.

A nasty type of error (from my experience), that is not so visible at first sight (because, on debugging, you usually look for typo's or impossible values or missing data), is where you've made a faction like two groups that hate each other -- there is a loyality conflict and the game apparently can't handle that. When implementing a faction, it's best to make it neutral towards all the rest, and leave the reputation and empathy stuff for later. It's also recommended (I fear Í sound like a schoolmaster now) to backup your mod before adding a new faction.

A single spelling mistake in some ini files will cause crashes. Its a very buggy thing.

Thanks guys and i am very happy to get a responce....you both ae right i have a feeling it was typo's, i decided to re-start the MOD from scratch from some of the updated tutorial stuff... but thanks for the tips and it is a lot of help....i would like to say i have never seen a forum that is this good.. .you all are very kind to help people out with all the questions ....MAD respect to you guys....if you guys ever need help just drop me a line thanx for all the help

i have ~25 factions now (15 unused ones for the future so u dont hav to wipe the server if u add a new hostile faction )
works fine. i dont think if there is a limit, at least not one that we would really break.
