Starlancer Ships in Freelancer. Can it be done?

I just had a wild thought what if you could buy any of this ships from Starlancer (fighters and capships) in Freelancer

I was wondering if it could be done?

Possible or not i would like to find out

i had asked this question when i first started to play FL. If you want to play SL ships in FL, the ships have to be created i believe, i dont think anyones done it yet, but i think the skins and meshes can be converted through milkshap, and then ship entries created in the INI files.

If i could actually *find* starlancer near me, to buy it, i would DEFINATELY convert the ships...but alas, everywhere i go, i can't find it, and buying online is out of the question here

maybe i'll get lucky sometime, i hear it's bargain software now, only priced around $5. it's just a matter of me finding it now.

Baene
If you are in the US, EB Games has it for $2.99, they seem to be everywhere here in the southeast.

Actually, I picked it up new for $1.99 at Gamestop. Pretty sick, eh?

I picked up Starlancer recently in a second hand games shop... But onto topic :p

The ships themselves are already accessable in the ships directory so no worries there. Next you'll need SLEdit to extract the textures from TCache, which is still (happily) available for this excellent site and this update, then this update. There are issues reported with SLEdit and Win XP but i've used it to export textures for the Shroud and use the SHP importer to get it into milkshape running XP Pro with sevice pack 1 and regular updates... This texturing guide may help but might not be relevant as using the ships for FL not SL.

I have extracted all the Starlancer ships already but I am thus far unable to extract the textures.

I'm not a great fan of the SL ships to be honest but with a little texturing and hardpointing they could be added to the FL.

Snake, use your edit button instead of double posting.

On topic, If you have the ships, but no textures, why not add new textures. The ship itself is what you would be after.

where do i find milkshape?

i mean whats the good of extracting the shapes and textures from SL if I don't have the program to put them into FL format?

go to your favorite search engine and type in "Milkshape 3D" and it should be one of the first few results!
