The Order in the repmenu?

How do you make the order show up in the reputation menu (F8)?

I can't find any special entries about the order in any of the inis about factions.

I think , although am not certain, being unable to try atm, that the answer lies in Knowledgemap.ini in the Interface folder. I seems right, because there are entries for Liberty Navy, LSF, etc, but not Nomads or Order, for example. So, if you add them into that file with the appropriate string value for "The Order" (use fled-ids if uncertain), they SHOULD appear. Don't hold me to it though.

aha, that could be it.

I'll try, thanks!

As far as I know, The Order, The Nomads, the Nomad-infested navies and 4 factions from the SP campaign, are hard-coded (that is, not in the ini-files) not to show up.

I've created a new faction, also called The Order, with the nickname co_or_grp, and gave it a very high rep end empathy values with the real order (in Empathy.ini and Initialworld.ini), so that the player's rep with this faction will always be the same as his rep with The Order.

Now, a faction only shows up after the player has had contact with it. so "The Order" only shows up after the player has met their evil twin. You can do this by giving a bartender the affiliation of the fake-order. I guess you can also give a base the reputation of the fake-order. Other NPC's at bases, or ships, are less preferable as you will have an audio file missing (Instead of "I work for The Order" and "This is Order" you'll hear "I work for ---" and "This is ---".

But maybe modding Knowledgemap.ini does provide an easy solution -- please let us know!

No, i just tested the knowledgemap.ini mod - no good. Of course the easy way around this would be to change all references to the original order faction to point to your new one... oh, and copy over voice attributes and things too

*Edit - Since adding new factions crashes the SP game maybe use the fc_uk_grp as a new Order tag (this faction is unnamed and unused). As far as i know this is the only way to add a new faction in SP without buggering up the reps for the story line.

If I'm not mistaken, the fc_uk_grp faction is also made not to show up in the rep screen.

Btw, SP doesn't crash on a new faction - at least OpenSP doesn't do so (I have no idea what the original SP does, never even played it). It just doesn't actively involve them. So if you set up 2 new factions as enemies, they will still be totally neutral towards each other (Strange, and annoying, but true. So now I have to play/ check my mod using my own lan server.)

hmm Yeah I tried the knowledgemap and it didn't work.

I'm using opensp so the story shouldn't pose any problem.

Maybe adding a new faction is the only way... I'll fiddle with it.

Thanks!
