Way to change your ship''s rep?

You know when you're in Liberty in an Eagle or something, and some pirates stop you in the trade lane, poop themselves, and make a run for it? What sets up this effect, is it simply by ship class, or is it on a per-ship basis?

I'm done with my new ship, and I'm doing SP to make sure all is well. So far not a single pirate has ran away from this thing, and they certainly ought to, at least some of them. Can I adjust it any? I've done searches to no avail, if there is something on this just point me in the right direction.

the factor is intemidation.

ex:

i am in a class 10 saber.

6/1 salmanca mk II/salmanca turret.

the realtive difference in the fire power might be a factor.

a good thing to do is to load up with firestalker and cannonball missile and hornet cd the works.the outcast or rogues in liberty will cooly fly away from you.

lol!!!!!!!!!!

I know I get a kick out of some of their comments. That's the only reason I was asking about it.

This is one of the blocks in your pilots_pop. that determines whether or not a pilot will flee:
[JobBlock
nickname = basic_job_no_formation <---this is just one and can be referenced in [Pilot block
wait_for_leader_target = False
flee_when_leader_flees_style = False
scene_toughness_threshold = hard
flee_scene_threat_style = hard

flee_when_hull_damaged_percent = 0.100000
flee_no_weapons_style = True
loot_flee_threshold = hard
attack_subtarget_order = anything
field_targeting = high_density
loot_preference = lt_commodities
force_attack_formation = False
combat_drift_distance = 25000
attack_preference = fighter, 5000, guns / guided / unguided
attack_preference = freighter, 5000, guns / guided / unguided
attack_preference = transport, 5000, guns / guided / unguided
attack_preference = anything, 5000, guns / guided / unguided

lines in bold are what probably determines if a pilot will flee an opponent based on opponent's toughness. I have no clue how FL actually makes the calculation that determines if a scene is easy/medium/hard/hardest.

Edit = @Rsdnt-Evle: I read your original posting and ittan's reply and then went off to find you an answer, type it up and post it. When I was finished I went off to do other things. I then come back to find a third post and find out that while I was writing up an answer to try and help, you posted this:

I get a kick out of some of their comments. That's the only reason I was asking about it.

While I've got no problem trying to help people, especially due to the fact that others have gone so far out of their way to help me, it kind of ticks me off to find out you don't really give a damn about the answer. If you don't really want to know then please don't ask the question or at least state such in your original post. If you didn't have a real editing question then this topic didn't belong here in the first place it should have been in the FL Discussion forum.
Please, from now on don't ask editing questions you don't really want the answer to and save others time. Thanks.

double that

Post Mon Apr 19, 2004 9:11 pm

Umm, but I did really want to know, jeez. In order to make sure my ship was complete, I wanted to know if it was something I was supposed to have added or not, I wanted it to be 100%. Mighty quick to jump to conclusions here, eh? What else is all this for if not for fun? Last damn time I ask anything on here.

Just for further explanation, let me rephrase my remark in a way more clear to my meaning.

"Yes, I would like to know how to change this, because I enjoy being in a powerful ship that small time pirates want to flee from, just as you said. And since this isn't happening to this ship I just built, maybe I missed something along the way and need to figure out how to fix it."

That is what I meant to say, but it seemed rather redundant, so I shortened it. That better?

Regardless, thanks for that info, sorry for bothering you.

@Rsdnt-Evle: If I jumped down your throat for no reason then I apologize. When I read your second post I assumed that you didn't really care about the answer. I guess I was wrong. Sorry.
If you have questions post away man. This is an international forum, people are going to misinterpret each other from time to time. That's why I used please and thanks in my edit above. I've learned that I can't always be certain what a person means by their posts.
You should also check back here to see if someone with more knowledge about this comes in to give you a better answer. Chips, Accushot and some of the others might know exactly what it is that FL uses to determine a ship's toughness. (might be your character's rank for all I know)

Edit= If you've just been testing your ship with a level 1 character you might try giving him a level of 35 and see what happens.

i read thet as talking about the npcs comments in game 'this guys too tough! i'm getting out of here' lol

I think it's down to the weapons (maybe shield too) carried by your ship that causes some npcs to flee like dewey eyed gazelles

Post Tue Apr 20, 2004 3:13 am

The second post was taken as "he didn't want the actual answer", just the fact that he said that he thought the NPC's where funny.

Post Tue Apr 20, 2004 4:46 am

You are correct, I was talking about the NPC comments. When one of them says it would be suicide to take me on, it strikes me as funny.

I was assuming it was based on the ship's class, but maybe it's based on a combination of everything... class, weapons, shield, character level, maybe even number of fighters killed? I did have low level Trent because I was doing the SP missions, and was still in Liberty.

I had Juni give me a class 10 shield, but class 8 and 7 weapons, because they are the highest level weapons Kusari has, and that is where the ship belongs. I'll go to the other extreme with Lv 10 everything and high-level Trent and see what happens. Thanks for the heads-up.

As a side note, if I ask for help on something, trust me I really do want to know. I'm trying to soak this wealth of information up like a sponge. I used to be a forum owner/moderator for some highly popular Tomb Raider sites (yes, i know, don't say anything ) and I know what it's like to get someone in there who just blurts out questions left and right without taking the time to look for themselves. That ain't me.
