Problem with Added Shipdealer

I've run into some trouble with shipdealers.

I've added a shipdealer room to a base and everything looks fine in the files and when I dock with the base the Ship icon is there as it should be.
But nothing happens when I click on the Ship Icon. It's the same in all of the rooms on the base.

I have looked through my files and checked what I've done with a tutorial found on the forums. But I can't find anything wrong.

Does anyone know what the problem might be when this happens?

Hmmm I'm a learner with this too - i have added shipdealer to Baltimore but all works except the dealer character showing... ie Trant on his own in the room.

Have you done the additions in mbases.ini?

Read what you've copied carefully - Most foul ups and bugs in my modding is due to typos - i'm reading what SHOULD be there rather than what IS there...

Hmm. It seems to me that you've defined the room properly in your system's BASES folder ini., and so I'd guess that the problem is somewhere in the corresponding room ini. file in the ROOMS folder. My reasoning is that Freelancer knows that your base has a Shipdealer because it shows the icon on the top bar (so it must be defined properly in the base's BASES ini) but doesn't know how to create it (so a problem somewhere in the ROOMS ini seems likely.)

This is just a guess really though, as I haven't had that exact problem myself before.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it there could be a problem in the BASES ini too. It may be telling the game to look in the wrong place for the corresponding rooms. My advice would be to rigourously check and double-check both files.

Thank you!

I had actually forgot to add the room in 'mbases.ini'
But even when I did put it in, the room wouldn't work.

So I deleted the files and started over from the beginning, and now it works!

Funny thing is, I've got the same small problem as you Anton, the dealer doesn't show up.
I'll go through some of the other shipdealer files and try to find out why.

I've found something in the 'mbases.ini':

[MRoom
nickname = Shipdealer
character_density = 2
fixture = iw0302_fix_ship, Zs/NPC/Shipdealer/01/A/Stand, scripts\vendors\li_shipdealer_fidget.thn, ShipDealer

Isn't this fixture the shipdealer?

Dugge Dank,

I'm not sure if this might be the problem (so my apologies if this is irrelevant or you already did this) but did you also have a corresponding GF-NPC ? The one corresponding to the example you gave is:

[GF_NPC
nickname = iw0302_fix_ship
body = pi_pirate7_body
head = pi_pirate3_head
lefthand = benchmark_male_hand_left
righthand = benchmark_male_hand_right
individual_name = 245173
affiliation = fc_lh_grp
voice = rvp106

This creates the guy, decides what he looks like.

hehe

I feel really, really stupid right now. I actually discovered that one myself a couple of minutes ago, right there in 'mbases.ini', about two lines above the line I asked about...

But thank you, always nice to now that people are willing to help even though the questions are kinda stupid :

Learning how it all works is a non-lineair thing; many ways can lead to good results, so no question is stupid.

Well actually that ain't true; I would be lying if I stated that I never saw someone ask a stupid question on this forum . But your question was not one of those, imo
