Identification range...

Hello dear brains...

I searched all over the forums but couldn't find anything even remotely similar... I'm looking for a way to change the range by which objects are revealed or identified. For instance... when I get in to the EFA system, I see a whole bunch of planets and bases and when hilighted register as unknown planets/bases. To get their names I need to come within a certain distance of them. How can I change that distance so that objects get identified further away, or closer?!

Thanks.

Look in misc_equip.ini All the scanners are listed, change "Range = " to a higher number.

[Scanner
nickname = ge_s_scanner_01
ids_name = 263750
ids_info = 264750
volume = 0.000000
mass = 10
range = 2500 <------------- EDIT THIS
cargo_scan_range = 2000
lootable = false

Sorry for not mentioning what I already tried... but this works only on tradelanes, ships and loot. Planets and bases are still registered as unknown unless explored up to a certain range. I thought there might be something in the constants.ini file, but couldn't find proper documentation for the various values.

Thanks, though...

Some objects in the system file, such as Planet Manhatten, have the line "visit = 1" in their block of text. You could try adding it to some planets to see if it makes a difference, this probably isn't exactly what you're looking for though.
