FL crash after activating mod

please forgive me if this has been asked before, I haven't been able to find this particular problem posted.

I am working on a stargate-based mod, and have completed a basic version of the death glider. I've created a FLMM script for it and FLMM loads & activates it without any complaints. The problem is, once I start FL with the mod activated, it crashes back to the desktop and wants to send a report to M$.

To make things even more fun, I had forgotten to add the ship id to the goods.ini when I first did this, and it worked (but it didn't show up for sale at Pittsburgh)

ADVISE:

BETTER CHECK YOUR SCRIPTING AND REQUIRED DATA TO BE INPUT
(I.E. ADDING IT TO GOODS.INI, LOADOUTS.INI, etc.). OR ANOTHER
THING, BE CAREFUL ON THE SCRIPTS THAT YOU EDITED. IT CAN CONFLICT
THE DATA YOU'VE INPUTTED.

TO BOLDLY GO, WHERE NO MAN,
WHERE NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE!

pah - turn off capslock! (that is to the second post here).

Try to do a "tools - delete autosave" followed by a "tools - go to save games folder" = where you then select all and delete. That stops 90% of crashes on loadup unless you have made a cockup in scripting etc.

Ok, I did the 'tools-delete autosave' thing, and FL comes up now with the OpenSP and the stargate mods activated. However, I went to land at Pittsburgh (where I set it up to be sold) and right after I go through the docking seq. it crashed out.

Any ideas? (I am fully capable of having a screwed up mod, believe me .)

See the tutorials forum for this, i have a thread about *debugging - find answers to crashes* - in which it goes through problems like that. You should find a link in a thread by Stinger which is stickied at the top.

Okay, I got it buyable at Pittsburgh, and it's not crashing- now I have a different problem.

Apparently, I have no engine. It's there (or else it wouldn't let me take off, right?) but it doesn't work. i.e. I can't move without the thruster (which works), so docking doesn't happen. I tried switching HpEngine01 and HpThruster01, since that had worked on my first ship, but it didn't work here.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Chris

Okay! everything is set (so far )- it turns out that it didn't like having a heavy fighter engine- go figure. I now have a working Death Glider from Stargate SG-1*. I just need a better texture for it (basic gray for now).

So any pics?
Pics would be cool

sure- as soon as I take some (can't remember how) and learn how to post 'em (unless you just want me to send them via 'submit files' link?)

Ok- I've done a little more work on the Death Glider, but now it appears that my running/docking lights have disappeared. I've checked my .cmp and the milkshape model, and the hardpoints are there, but they just aren't showing up in-game.

I can send the mod file and a zip of all relevant files if needed.

All help will be appreciated.

The loadout in the goods.ini for your ship. You need to add the lights to the "package" that you buy

nope, that's not it- I checked that, too- just to make sure.

thanks for the tip, though.

Just wondering what happened to the original blue and gold texture made for the Death glidder.

See post - here

I didn't get any textures- just a model (from Ville Mattila). I did the colors myself- I tried to base them on the original colors from the movie, as opposed to the all-grey version in the series.

I like what you did especially the cockpit coloring.
Are you still in need of textures?

I did it in the blue and gold as the model makers did just for show.

Oh, by the way, I am the original maker of this mesh.
Never released it as a ship but I did give the ms3d file out to a couple of people to further develop into a Freelancer ship 5 months ago.
Glad to see someone finally did.

Also, did the asgard ship mesh.
