Creating a system as a planet?

The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

Yes you can have multiple docking rings on one planet. Check out Evolutions 1.27. They have a planet with four rings.

I don't know too much about modding, but would it be possible to create a speed variable in the atmosphere? Like you got 40 and its ok, but if you speed up, you start creating friction and the faster you go the more damage you take. One problem I see is then it takes forever to get anywhere, but it would be cool. Plus battles would require special planning, because you'd get one pass and then have to take forever to turn around.

Sorry to slightly change the subject a bit again: but is there a mod that allows you to enter a planet without a docking ring?

Yeah, our 'Earth' has quite a few rings, something over 10 I believe, but that's because its to scale, rather than being an itty-bitty style FL planet.

I don't believe you can dock directly with a planet in a current mod, but it's probably doable.

The tricky things with enormous planets is circumnavigating them - it takes ages manually! I'm trying to create an effective series of tradelanes, perhaps even finding away of making them curve around them.

as pSYCHO about large planetoids, he's the one who got ours working nicely
