Are there existing mods which hide more things than the original game?

What I think would be cool is a mod that is difficult and forces you to explore to find one of the few lost and very old alien ships, which by the way still runs with a great engine and hull, but needs equipment. Rumors or maps could be sprinkled around.

In other places perhaps greatly improved shields, guns, detectors, thrustors, etc.

You should start so poor and hated that just surviving from station to is a trick, except for a fast ship you own that allows you to escape trouble. Trading to advance in the normal fashion should be adjusted so that you can only subsist that way.
