Adding custom ships

Is there a way to add custom ships into your game in the same save file. Cuz I beat the game, and I don't want to create a new file...

You can edit your ship in a saved game file by using the IONCROSS Freelancer Character Editor mk.V for Singleplayer - non autosaved - game files.
The IONCROSS Freelancer Character Editor will let you edit:
ship - including changing the ship...
power plant
engine
shield
forward hard points - what weapons you have mounted...
turrets
equipment
lights
cargo
location
factions
AND money
**** EDIT CAREFULLY AND BACK UP YOUR FILES! ****

For Multiplayer saved games use the IONCROSS Freelancer Server Operator mk.III.1
Also capable of editing:
ship
power plant
engine
shield
forward hard points
turrets
equipment
lights
cargo
location
factions
AND money
**** EDIT CAREFULLY AND BACK UP YOUR FILES! ****

Whoa that works.

Hmm.. I see how I can edit my ship, now is there a way to add in a custom ship I downloaded? Like the Jedi T-Fighter..?

hey neuton,

well by far the easiest way to do that is to activate the mod that has it then fly to the place its sold , buy it then make a new save

as long as you use flmm to avoid save game problems you should be set.

as a side note it might be worth mentioning that you can do it manually by adding the ship and then editing the save game but the chances are pretty high of something going badly wrong.and if you havent done as baked suggested and backed everything up then you could lose your save totally.

if you only want to change one thing (ie add a ship) then why not make your own mod that changes nothing else? then you could send it to any friends you wanted to play online with.

id seriously consider using flmm and making a new save as it garuantees everything can be reset back to base state so you can play online without problems.

just out of curiosity - why are you reluctant to make a new save? (just being nosey - feel free to ignore me )

hehe, I wasn't ignorin you, I just haven't been here in a while.
But I'm reluctant to make a new save simply because there's a lot of mods that don't do exactly what I want, and I'm too lazy to look for a good one that opens up the map, the mods I do have suddenly don't work.. blah bitty blah blah.. So I'm just really hoping to keep my nice game where it is, just with a new cool custom ship. But I guess it's impossible... so oh well..
::sigh::

hehehe.

You can still buy that custom ship and although without adding the Game Data files from the Mod to the IONCROSS folder you can still edit the equipment on that custom ship like the money, guns, shield, thruster, engine, power plant , cargo, running lights, location, factions reputation and what not but the custom ship itself will not show up in the ship option box. Using the IONCROSS Freelancer Character Editor mk.V by JoeBoomz for Singleplayer saved game files ((non autosave only)) and the IONCROSS Freelancer Server Operator mk.III.1 by JoeBoomz for Multiplayer saved games.
The IONCROSS programs are so good that they find, load and parse the saved games for you so you don't have to search for them...Nice Touch Joe...
Just click on the save game name in Singleplayer and go to town and click on the character name for your Multiplayer saved game.
