Mission Mods..??

Just wanted to know if there were any mods out there that added more missions.
I would have searched the forum before posting but it seems to be lacking a search button, or I'm blind and can't find it.

nope, non as far as i can think off, just some random missions, you know, kill this and kill that

Yes there are several random missions in a lot of mods.

I believe Dan made some battleship missions, Reynen i think has some and Hostile Universe has some too.

As for specific missions, Hostile Universe has several missions you learn about in the bars. I use Bar rumours and news to tell the player they exist and offer clues on how to complete them. Theres usually a good reward at the end of the trial too.

Erm, a my recommendation. Get HU ver 8.1

sure, TNG has lots of icing on the cake - big effects for some guns, and lots of powerful fighters, but they concentrated on that alone. In SP, after you fly around for a while, you will get bored. HU8.1 is the only mod that kept me playing for some time in SP, and that is a feat itself. I highly recommend it!

I was curios about random missions giskard, i'm planing on latter in my terra empire mod to add them, i havn't devled hugely into the viggalteprams.ini too much *aside from adding the new aci faction to give ceritan missions* i'll probley figure them out eventually but i was curious *as i said* if anyone has made a basic guide or such on how they ethier A work or B moddifed. Just thought i'd ask

Back to the subject at hand.

Random missions require some work indeed to make them proparely. Its very error prone. Basically the mbase file olds a number that links to part of a mission tree in another file. That tree starts with a number like 1 or something and branches off in several directions, which is how it gets complex and error prone quickly.

You can make your own trees and lay out brand new missions with a little effort.

However I cheated, i simple made battleships and listed them as fighters and thus they become available in the random missions. You can do this for anything. Even making a frieghter the target for a mission and giving it an escort.

Its best to make unique ship and AI entries for these though so they dont get used elsewhere in the game, only in the random missions.

As for other types of missions. Thats even easier. Just add rumour in mbases thats tells the player your plot. Give the character a % chance of being present and then plant something somewhere as the objective. Give it a cargo thats worth something and let the player get paid by selling that cargo.

You have to edit a lot of files but its worth it.

I made a treasure hunt this way using 2 part rumours to prevent the player from stumbling on the next clue by chance. Only when both clues are read does the next clue make sense.

hey giskard/Chips.
I populated my base which i created. Now i put juni in the bar, just used her archetype -head, body, etc. put some rumors under her category. And guess what happened, She gives me missions in the Liberty sector but we were in Omicron Alpha. Specifically the mission is in 5E and fighting a level 3 outcast flying a dagger. And here is the catch there is no mission i have created for this juni clone. An instant mission from Knowhere. Weird is it.

Can you tell me a possible bug. if you want i can give you my script tommorow.

BTW: the mission works, i mean it really is activated in sector 5E in Omicron Alpha.

Yeah - you have used a liberty navy officers stats from Liberty obviously. There missions appear to be fairly specific as to where they are set (system wise). This means that if you take a rheinlander and try to get misisons - you find yourself trekking all that way for nothing. Use a faction closer to home, the change uniform, or try copying stats from under another person (ie - destroymission offers line from someone in the same system at least) - however, i haven't tried that before, so dunno if it works.

Its worth remembering the Juni character has several missile files linked to her name. So its probably best to do as chips suggests and change the faction she belongs too and her name/code.

just did, now she don't offer me missions and don't remember trent anymore. She may have gone from a brainwashing or something. lol

Now my queation is Why the heck don't open her mouth when talking? or is there a juni's voice specific configuration and you cannot use rvp501 voice on her?

most likely specific points, as she has lots of facial animations i would assume, compared to others that is.

giskard, I got a clue to find a wreck in edinburgh with a base name, no wreck, also the guy on hawaii, 10 k east of a base name mentioned in the news at a couple of leeds places he mentioned. all names, 10K east, nada. care to throw me a spoiler? or three?
