is it just me??

the last few weeks when I looked on the TLR homepage I saw more and more mods by kids (9-12 yrs.) announced.
so my question: aren't there no more good mods released now that we've to play simpons-systems mods or mods with weird names?
( to understand me right: it is cool that kids from that age start moddin' but I do not want to play it as long it hasn't the level of TNG or such....)

have a nice day

"Kids" are ok, and some idealism here and there is not bad,
so long as they are not immature.
Actually, that last statement should apply to everyone here.

You'd be surprised what these code literate kids could produce if given a "project" to work on. Give them a true goal and they just might wow us all....

Give them a true goal and they just might wow us all

It is very likely, except that the more astute ones don't let on as such.

Blaxxer, SubXero, believe it or not, the "kids" read posts in this forum too!
We don't have as much time as you might think.

I would agree that if we were given some "serious" insparation and a little help, we could produce some damn good stuff (sorry about that last messup bakedpotato)

Finally, to all you people out there, keep up the good work! The mods are getting better, there are more of them (only partially thanks to the "kids", and one day we'll finally crack open the last mysteries of freelancer, if we just keep trying!

sorry about my ranting on,

it is not the fact that they're in fact kids, but the fact that I get angry when I see some mods called the simpsons-mod system or here...another XX years old kid made another system with weird names...blablablabla...
I would also get angry if someone older had posted this...I just like mods with an higher level of "seriousity" ..ya know what I mean...

Ya know what I think? I think the so called "Kids" Are adding a little bit more creativity to the mod section, sure a Simsons mod is a Little wierd but it hasnt been done before has it? and systems with wierd names are probebly tries at making something a little less boring then like the World's place names.

I cant mod but then again i havent tryed, well not REALLY, but i love playtesting and searching mod archives i can spend 3 hours just looking at a list of mods clicking and opening millions of windows

To swing in for the defence:

The 'Kids' and others that make mods like the simpsons, have usually only just started modding FL, or that is the first time in their direction (systems for example).

Sometimes (with uber ships), they create something they want to see, and like all of us, they like it, so they assume others will. Hence it is posted for download.

With systems and other mods, a level of creativity and thought is needed for the mods that are made. At this point, they make a mod, and showcase something they like - for the same reasons as above. However - this can have ONE other vital, and overlooked part to it too.

The comments that are posted, can often be about the creativeness of the mod. It is HELPFUL when someone posts - 'I like it, but if you did blah blah blah then it would be better'. You cannot get that kind of suggestions coming from playing with it yourself.

Also - negative comments such as 'your mod sucks' do nothing whatsoever. The persons mod you are belittling now MIGHT just be the foundations of one of the most incredible mods you ever play. Interesting eh? If you just try to pull them down with negative comments - well, who knows what you might be terminating in the coming weeks?

To sum it up - young, old, new and vet modders need ideas to mod. They need your help to develop their modding ideas and techniques. After all - if something was built on the vision of one, then it would be a monochromatic world we lived in - so give them a break eh?

Go the Kiddies coders!!!
I'm at uni doing programming and my sister is catching up pretty quick in it and she's only 14... The fact is they are getting too damn clever for their boots... heh heh I still showed her a thing or two with flash....

Actually, almost any game you find will have a simpsons mod or some weirdly named one because of two things:
1. Lots of people like the Simpsons
2. Wide range of modders and ideas...

Keep it up kids ("just don't show us up or you'll regret it" he says while shaking his fist.... lmao kidding)

I agree with you Down, i played a game called "Age of empires II: The Conquerors Expansion" It has a Feature called the Scenario Creator, there was a Simpsons RPG Series for that too and Also "Command and Conquer: Renegade" has a couple of Mods that Change the Skins of Charicters into Simson Charicters, it looks really Wierd, Different and Cool at the same time. So basicly if someone makes a Mod or such about the Simpsons you shouldnt Fret about it, its something about as common as Star-Wars in Freelancer.

I cant mod but then again i havent tryed, well not REALLY, but i love playtesting and searching mod archives i can spend 3 hours just looking at a list of mods clicking and opening millions of windows
