Skinning

Hey guys

Our mod is coming alone well but I have hit a snag
I have made a custom ship and I need to skin it but the problem is I want to skin it with the FL skins like the ones from the Liberty Defender but I am not sure about how to get them whenever I try and put them into Milkshape it says "Error downloading texture". Please can someone tell me how to get the FL texture onto my ship PLZZZZZZ

P.S. Can you give me a detailed explanation or a tutorial (I be no brainer!!!!!)

Man have you taken on a job, the request is not a simple one and would take a very complex tutorial to answer you.

You can use the liberty texs by extracting them using the utf editor and then converting them to tga format using photoshop 7 or any other compatible program then map the new textures to your model, but I don't know of anyone who has had success using the standard freelancer textures.... maybe it can be done but you would have to map the model to the texture and then do a new mat file.......

There is a tutorial called the KasdiasTextureGuide in the downloads section somewhere ..... very good, very comprehensive, I suggest you do a search for it...

if you have the cmpimporte. You can get the texture of all the ships in fl.

You just need to know where the mat fiel for each ship. And there is an option in cmpimporter that imports their texture.

Working hard to earn... but too lazy to do something...

I am not sure how to get the files into Adobe Photoshop Elements
and how do I get them from UTF to APE

did you try checking the button where it says where to place you tga files. Then you just locate the directory where you want the files you extracted from cmpimporter.

Just open the cmpimporter and examine it carefully.

i would apreciate any help with a site that i am making for lb studios i have a prob with my uploads if i have people coming in to upload from me it puts a serious strain on my line does any one know were i can get resonable space to park online price aint a prob

Well - dunno if i got a good rate or not, but 1gig storage, 50gig bandwidth, at $7.50 a month. The company seems very solid (i did check them out first) and they have a nice online support method (like system chat ). It was with the company at this location. Who knows - they might have even better deals now though!! LOL

Here is an update I have managed to get the texture into milkshape but I am having trouble getting the damn things lined up to how I want them, can some one please explain how I can get the parts of the textures where they should be and the correct size

Open the texture editor window [-windows->texture editor- then you can use it to line it up, not sure how, I'm new to this myself, but I saw a tutorial, (in the tutorials section suprisingly), that focuses on texturing, hang on...
