Changing the color or skinning ships?

How does one change the color or skin ships? Is there a program that allows you do to so?

check for the utf-editor...that lets you extract the skins from the *.cmp files of the ships, which you can then edit with a graphic program like photoshop etc...

the editor shoulld be in the dl section..
