Hey Modders,

I'm not really sure if this has been attempted, suggested or if it is even possible, but I think its an interesting idea. I would have thought that DA, having stated that the reason you only have one ship is because it is your avatar, would have imcorporated this into the MP aspect of the game, but nothing is perfect.

Anyway, the idea: some sort of app or mod that allows MP players to modify their ships. ie. Adding decals(user imported), changing colours, perhaps light positions, etc.

Just a thought.

You can do this in MP - others may not see it though - you can change lots of things - extra hard points, change positions of hard points....change ship colour (others won't see it though i think......) and other stuff. Things you can't do is take a non original FL ship onto servers - as it just says - what the hell is that - then crashes out/boots you......
So what exactly are you talking about? You mean a program that lets you enter into fields what you would like to do? i.e.
Change light1 position? then point and click where you want it on the ship?
Add extra gun mount? then point and click where on the ship? and type in its orientation (forwards, aft......etc)..is that what you are talking about?

Basically, I think what would be good would be some sort of graphic representation(either 3d or a series of 2d, I think 3rd with a rotate option would work best) of your ship that you could use to add things like decals: by draging and dropping. Maybe slider RGB bars to adjust the colour of your ship. By light points I meant the beacon lights on your ship (usually red and white I think). Pretty much anything anyone could think of to customize your ship as much as possible, so that it actually becomes an extension of the pilot instead of just another ship.

The thing that would need to be done tho, would be to make those changes show up to everyone on that server. Otherwise it's kinda pointless.

You can change your lights (red and white flashing ones) and move em - i don't have any on mine.............but for your idea to take effect would require one nifty program and also - everyone else to have the same mod as you - otherwise they won't see it - oh - and the server will need it as well

Yea, I figured it would take a hell of a lot to make such a mod, but I think it would be worth it on many levels. Clans for instance could have better looking fleets. But, I couldn't code myself out of a paper sack so I leave this idea for all the modders out there willing to take it up
