Project Hypergate

The second of two projects from DSI. This one takes the Hypergate from FL and uses it to expand the universe to include new systems in Sirius and create a couple of all new sectors. also includes new factions, many, many new ships, an new story line or two, as well as all the bases and planets that go with new systems. If anyone is interested this project holds the same benefits that Project Privateer does. ...So post if you are interested, or have comments or ideas or whatever

Make a new game would be easier.
You know how long I have to spent just to debug a new system. I can't imaging what does it takes to add all these things together. We need a team full of expertes or we will face the mess.

How are you going to get new sectors in? I'm with Starfyre Studios and I have been looking into it, but dug up nothing...
Hope you don't mind, but had been thinking awhile back on using the special effects (hypergate stuff) in my system(s) too. Then again, people creating "hypergates" isn't anything new, unless it will actually let you pass through different sectors (e.g. Sirius Sector,Orion Sector,etc...), which will be REALLY neat.

@Guardian-Q, I feel your pain, god knows how many hours I have spent playing around trying to get it to work again, when all it was, was that stupid little word that anyone could have misspelt.

well duriel_LOP, what DSI was planning to do to fit new sectors on the map ( i assume thats what you were talking about) is instead of creating a whole new map to just add another level to the magnification tool - so instead of having just two we would have three - one at the system level, one at the sector overview level and one at the universe overview level - this would allow for many, many new sectors since each sector would be just a tiny spot on the overall map.

That being said, DSI is now ready to begin putting the team togetherfor both Project Hypergate and Project Privateer. If you are interested in contributing... even something as small as a ship design or a system you would like to see in it...then please post in one of the two forums or send an e-mail to [email protected]

who would want a hyper gate?
well when u succeed I would sugest that u do not release it but figure out how to make it a part of the all the ships.
And that it will only transport u to a certain place in a sector like a hyper gate
but u can transport from anywhere u want more like a hyper drive

sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me!

Wolf_demon, were you even paying attention during the sp missions? the reason for the hypergate is simple - it allows for a much more massive universe to play in. Imagine the mp games you could have if instead of one sectors worth of ships, commodities, factions and missions you had two, or three, or more!

and as for incorporating the hypergate into ships, those that want that sort of thing are a minority - or maybe not...if anyone has an opinion or how to go about the gate\jumpdrive question then let us here it.

i think its a good idea but a hyper drive seems more futureistic than going all the way to the hyper gate to get to a sector

sounds like a great idea.... but the game is big, buggy and laggy as hell as it is...

Well Wolf_Demon...so far you are the ONLY person to ask for such a thing! Besides which Im not even sure how do do such a thing...the jump gates in the game are dedicated...each of them only goes to one spot....i dont know how to set up such a system without some really major work and possibly getting into the coding for the engine itself! If any body has ideas on that I'd love to hear 'em

ok wolf im here thanx for pointing me here, i searched for the thread like u said now my idea is to use ur hypergate idea, and create a new unierse aside fromthat of sius, so we can travel from sirus to a new universe. now if u guys want to try and incorporate a hypergate in a ship u r crazy, cause u need a point of entry with an end like a jump gate, its all coded already that that gates goes fromhere to there, unless u change the game to have new boxes that allow for you to pick your destination and then to can go into jump that i can undertsand and it would work but just going into hyperspace wont work, the fl egnine seems to work on start and end points not just freeform flying
