Making Mineable areas show up properly in the nav-map?

I am pretty new to Freelancer, and am just starting to learn where/how to make modifications to the game, so I apologize in advance for my "newb-ness".

I know this is probably of little interest to most, but I was curious if anyone knows how/why some of the Mineable areas in the game don't show up as Mineable in the NavMap when you click the "Mineables" filter button? For instance, in my single player campaign, the "Tain Asteroid Field" in Edinburg will yield Water if mined, but it doesn't show that region as Mineable in the NavMap.

I have been searching the forums here for some ideas about this, but so far I haven't found exactly what I'm after. If anyone can assist me, I would appreciate it a lot! Thanks!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check out the mining mod, and if I stumble across anything that might work as a solution to my original question, I'll share it here.

May be you will find the answer in the Unofficial SP patch 1.2?

It has something to do with propertyflags parameter of the zone.
Try experimenting with different settings: 64, 128, 256 and so. (power of 2)

This will show your zone in different form on the map.
