My Osiris is behaving very poorly

Okay, several things. I just put the Osiris into the Next Gen Mod, and I'm having a wee bit of trouble. It works fine and all, except, on seemingly random occasions, it just freaks out and goes negative several hundred (or thousand) in multiple directions. Two examples: Once when I was on a random mission to destroy some weapons platforms, and it just freaked out when I got close, and then, when I was trying to get back to it, it did it again! I ended up failing the mission cuz of this. Another time, after I reloaded, I tried to dock with the planet, and it freaked out again and flew downward left at an insane speed at the planet. Then it stopped. I think it has something to do with the whole engine kill thing being used as warp. Which is weird, cuz that doesn't work for this ship. I'd also like to know how to apply it to this ship, if that's possible.
On an almost completely unrelated subject, I was wondering, is it possible to mount a weapon and have it fixed a certain direction? Because if that's possible, I'd like to mount some missile turrets at a diagonal direction and slightly up, so as to have the missiles arch all cool style as they exit the launcher and vehemently pursue their target. Something about missiles going immediately straight after they launch is just... boring. Even if they aren't mounted facing up, diagonally outward is still cool.

You mean like that ? I'm not sure about other missile turrets, or missile hardpoints, but the missile turrets I used initially aimed at the direction I pointed at, then turned towards their target.

And, of course, the Cruiser Main Gun is always fixed forward, so I guess that answers your other question.

Oh, and about your other problem - no idea. Is this in GoTo mode, or freeflight?

Edit - Of course, I wasn't using any external mods when taking that pic, so I don't know about the NextGen mod.

Both, I think. The first instance, I was in Goto mode the first time, and Freeflight Mode the second one. And then the second instance, when trying to dock with the planet, I was in the process of docking. So that answers that. And I know that missiles arch which ever way that you're pointing, but I was wondering what governs in what direction a turret (or gun) is fixed. I know the Liberty Cruiser's main gun is fixed forward, but is there any other direction a gun can be fixed? And if so, what do I edit to change it? If it involves messing with a .cmp file, forget it. I'm hoping there's some kind of .ini somewheres that I can dink with.

Just a quick question! Can you cloak with your osiris and if yes how? Thanx!

I have no idea how to cloak, and it never interested me. I play single player, and I've always valued being able to obliterate my enemy totally and completely more than being able to disappear and be all stealthy. I always cheated with Gameshark/Codebreaker in MGS to get infinite ammo and health because I felt the game needed more action =.

Hey! What base is the liberty Cruiser sold at, looked all over Sirius and could never find it.

Is it just me? Or does our good buddy Trent look every so slightly like a certain beloved.....Battlestar Galactica rouge.

Well, it is possible to make weapons fixed in a point, however I think it locks it in it's default position. I think for most guns this is pointing due forward. I think it's possible to change that in the .cmp file, but you don't want to do that kind of editing.

So, no, I don't think it's possible to change the position of a gun using only .ini editing.

To get missile weapons with fixed firing angles you need the following 3 items:
1: A fixed hardpoint preferably inside the ship pointing where you want the missiles to go.

2: Rename the missile DA archetype to this:
DA_archetype = equipment\models\turret\li_cruiser_gun01.cmp
material_library = equipment\models\li_turret.mat

3: Change the force_gun ori from false to this: force_gun_ori = true

That should do the trick.

SubXero, I believe the problem lies in the Nudge_Force. Set it down to a nice double digit number and see if it still happens. I noticed I also had this problem at jumpgates, and mines and gasclouds. I set mine down and now, it's fine.
