Truly Guided Missile

Does anyone remember Descent 3? There was a guided missile you could fire and then your view would change and you would directly pilot it to its target. It was difficult but really fun. If someone could get this in the game it could be used as an "armed" probe or a way to get around countermeasures. Give it a decent blast radius and explosive punch and you would have an excellent tool for long distance destruction of freighter (or capital ship) escorts. Maybe it could use the turret view for direction but with the viewpoint shifted to the missile instead your ship and the fire button the trigger to explode. Of course you would lose the normal turret view but if you don't like turrets or just don't mind, well, enemy go boom from long range anyone?

Oooo, pretty....what do we blow up first?

Until Microsoft releases the real sdk, that will not happen.

check the weapon_equip.ini for AI_range=*** then set the variable to 999 (of the rocket/torpedo you want to modify )
and then it'S REALLY guided...

these are just guesses, haven't tried them, but they may work:

edit weapon_equip.ini

under ur favorite missile, edit the following lines
[Motor <--- always close these brackets!!!
lifetime = 1.0 ; flies for 1 sec, u can set this higher
accel = 100 ; speed of missile, set this higher if u want

[Munition
seeker_range = 1000 ; range of missile, set this higher for more range
seeker_fov_deg = 35 ;field of view in degree where the missile starts homing when u fire it, try 360 here
max_angular_velocity = 2.903330 ; set this to 5 or higher to make it home in better


good luck! the seeker_fov_deg line should make it fireable even if u don't dee the target. will try this and tell u if it worked.

Uh, Guys? I was thinking more along the lines of personally guided missile. Try it on Descent 3, it's great!
