How do i change scanner range????

Hello people, i wanna know how to change scanner range in mp. I know you can set the 2 scanners in mp to their max, by editing misc_equip. What i realy wanna know wich file(s) determine when i see stations from 50k and players from 5k (in group to 9k). I tried making ships like stations but the game crashes. Please can some on help me with this, even a tip might come in handy!!

If you mean sight detection, then its the LOD settings. Just change it to something like this:
LODranges = 0, 99999, 99999, 99999, 99999, 99999, 99999, 99999

Thank you i tried it, but it wont work. What i really want to know is how to see other players in MP from about 50k. Or at least a range further than 5k?

open your misc_equip.ini file - you should see the scanners there (halfway down or so)- change the scan range and the cargo scan range to a value (5k cargo scan works fine) but not sure that you can do the detection over 5k on MP without it being server side - anyone know better?

I'm also trying to do this for OpenSP purposes.

I have 4 scanners - 2K 5K 7K and 10K

it seems that ships (like liberty police, etc) still dont show on scanners beyond ~3.5K.
I'll try an LOD mod - but since LODs default at ~1400 and my sensors can detect at ~2.5-3.5 it doesn't seem like the right place to fix it...

Reason - Smugglers need to be cautious. Especially if I ever get capital ship encounters working stably...

Is there a constant value that I could add to Constants.ini ?

i played around with this stuff and my conclusion was that npc ships probably don't spawn until you're in the 3.5k range. for example after i encounterd them i could follow them with my scanner for a great distance, but i couldn't see them at the beginning bc they weren't there.

once again, that's just my guess

Funny how in MP when you are grouped you can see your compatroits at 10km, but others only 5........however, obviously has nothing to do with scanners cos in MP you only have a 5km range full stop...............so whats a happening there?!?! lol

I've also noticed that when you're doing random missions the ships spawn at 3.5k - but that's not the purpose of the scanner.

I need a scanner for smugglers to avoid police patrols.

Currently - they don't have enough 'run away' time, or at least, I want to give them more...
