I know you all know what I'm talking about. You've seen battleships use their BIG gun right? That huge ring-y blast thing-a-ma-bob that looks really vicious? Well... just one question... HOW DO I USE IT?! I'm using the TNG ver 1.2 mod right now, and I have a Liberty Dreadnaught, and it would be great if I could have some other kind of weapon other than just those lame turrets. Sure, I've tried to make em cooler. I changed the sound to that of a Nomad capship gun (they sound totally sweet), then, upon realizing it was still inaudible, raised the volume on it. Regardless, they don't look pretty, and that's what I'm really going for. So how about it? Does anyone know how to get a really BIG blast for my weapons? Or perhaps a new weapon altogether that uses it? Any help will be appreciated.

Big gun is for big objects. Besides, I'm using a Liberty Dreadnaught, so it's not such a big deal. I already altered it to fire once every ten seconds. Of course, it also does 25,000 damage. But it travels really slow, like 300m/sec. So basically, think Siege Cannon from Homeworld: Cataclysm. Its not like I'll be nailing fighters with it. =P

If you want the cataclysm siege gun you should try something along the lines of this.

You'll get a bang that'll knock your eyes out. The Balistner carries two of these guns in seperate cannon emplacements. 1 word of warning though. Don't use it at close quarters and save it for use against lots of capital ships. It can't be swivelled either since the weapon model is the same as the Liberty cruiser and is meant to be placed inside a ship models main gun.

By that expresion, I'm guessing that you have just had a religious experience upon using the cannon did you not? It was during my development of the Levathian class warships and i was looking for a really good explosion for its twin siege cannons. That was when i found this.

Hmm, A cataclysm siege cannon. I know some HW fans that'll love that.

I'll have to slap this on a combo mod of Battleship encounters and Battleships themselves. Maybe make it a class 10 turret and have it on a rear firing mount....just in case.

The ship is called the Balistner. Its roughly about the size of 3-4 Rhineland Battleships put together. The first version carried 73 weapons including particle, autocannon, point defense, missile and torpedo bays. It ate House capitol ship armadas for breakfast. The Mark II had an extra 2 siege cannons placed on its port and starboard auxilary engine extensions. That one will probably have to undergo some weapons reductions because the cannon was treated as a missile weapon so pressing the button to fire the short range interceptor missile resulted in some "issues". The mark 1 should be ready for export but some people have reported problems. Still, if you want to use it, email me.

The other reason for having a big gun is to scare away big people. If they practically drop a load in their pants when you fire it anywhere near them, they are NOT going to stick aroung for you to actually hit them (that is, If you missed).

What about Lucifer's Vasuda Buster cannon from Freespace? That's a shot. Just when poor Microsoft will make a ship larger than 200 m it would crash forever. Compare any of FL's battleship to 10 km long Satanas, digital flagship of Volition...

The Balistner is already huge when compared to other capital ships. But when placed next to the Citadel class station i'm designing, its tiny. That station is about the size of a planet.
