I have a small problem

Ok here it is guys, I sure hope someone can help me here.
I have two copies of freelancer installed on my computer, One is running the hostile universe mod (for me to play) the other one is "clean" for my kids to play.
Both of them were working, untill I did a slight modification to one of the ships that came with the HU mod (the starfury to be exact), all i did was modify the lvl of weapons that the hardpoints could carry and the powerplant. Before I modified it I was piloting the anubus fighter. After I modded it I purchased the moddified starfury, and I saved my game.
Now I can run the modded version of freelancer, but when I try to start up the clean version it CTD at the screen where it normally give you the option to start a new game, load a saved game etc....
I moved the clean version to a different directory and changed the pathname in the startup to that directory and it still crashes.
The only thing I can think of is that the save game file is causing the problem. If that is the case, where can I find it, and can I "split" it so that I can use my save game on the modded version of freelancer, and use my kid's saved game on the clean version.
Any input from anyone that might be able to help me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tinr

The savesgames are located in C:\Documents and Settings\*Your user name*\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\SinglePlayer

That is for win xp/2000. Your best bet for having differing saves is to install and play your modded version under a different user account. This should create a distinct freelancer tree under a different name in the documents and settings folder. Seems strange that the savegame is causing the problem tho.

hey dude,
i think its possible - youll need the beta version of flmm (thread in this forum) .when it loads a mod it creates a saved game folder for it - youll need to identify the offending save (look by time and date modified).

start flmm and load the hu mod and start the game to create the folder then quit and manually move the problem save into the folder it created (their in your "mydocuments" folder)

"C:\Documents and Settings\aldric\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\SinglePlayer" in my case

this should leave only good game saves in the default folder ( remember the autosave may have to be deleted as well) so that the clean game will start ok.

hope this helps
