Can someone please tell me how to change the starting ship? I can set just about everything else for a new MP char but whenever I try and change the ship you start with no ship is there.
Yes I have. I have taken out %%Packages%% and replaced it with the package name (ie. gf1_package) . I have tried adding the information after that (ie. gf1_package ge_gf1_engine_01 internal ge_fighter_power01 ge_s_scanner_01 ge_s_tractor_01 shield01_mark01_lf HpShield01 LargeWhiteSpecial HpHeadlight SlowSmallOrange HpRunningLight01 HpRunningLight02 HpRunningLight05 contrail01 HpContrail01 HpContrail02 DockingLightRedSmall HpDockLight01 HpDockLight02) I have tried taking information from ships.ini and every time I come up with no ship. Am I formatting the data wrong or am I just way off base with what I am doing?
I have searched and searched through the forums, people have asked the same question a few time but all they get for a reply is something cryptic like change the %%Package%% or look in goods.ini and never show an example like the do for everything else in the mpnewcharacter.fl file.

All the stuff you need is in there, you just have to add an ai style loadout in the data/ships/loadouts.ini.
Trouble is, this sometimes triggers the anti cheat code in the new patch. As does several other changes. So ive dumped the patch because its restricting what i can do with my own mod.
So what your saying is that I need to change both??
When I change the starting money, system/planet in mpnewcharacter.fl it just works. I've never had to touch newcharacter.ini for that. I thought newcharacter.ini was for the single player? I know I sound like a big noob but I'm just trying to understand better. What is in newcharacter.ini looks nothing like mpnewcharacter.fl..
