Freelancer Super-Universe Development Concepts Introduction
Well, I am sure you know I am new here. I am a long time mod builder for a wide range of games including NWN, Treadmarks, Doom, Quake & others.
Just got the game, it ROCKS! I have seen all these kick ass mods, and am now starting to work up for a new mod for FL. I am wondering though, does anyone know if increasing the size of the overall universe itself is possible? I am talking like adding jump-holes and jump-gates that will take you to an entirely new system grouping map. Hope you guys have some suggestions and other info.
Here is the beginning of my list of ideas and some of my plans for the Mod.
All current ships pilotable (Already done apparently, but not in ways I was impressed with)
New ship classes for Fighters, Freighters plus the addition of entirely new ship classes including bombers, construction ships(to re-build destroyed trade lanes) and repair ships(to allow 'in the field' vessel repairs)
Asteroids and other solars to all be destroyable(I know about the crashes when bases with players in them are destroyed, but there has to be a fix/work-around for this issue)
New resources of both legal & contraband types(also need to figure out how to make different resources considered contraband in different systems. ie Gun-Running in some systems should be illegal)
New weapons in all classes.
New thrusters in all classes.
New shields in all classes.
A wider range of performance envelopes for all ships, shields, thrusters, etc.
