Rebalance mod problems

After I installed the rebalance mod, my game is running a bit choppy. I was wondering what I could do to increase performance without lowering the graphics. What files came with the mod that would slow my system down dramatically and stuff like that such as the explosions, if deleting them would help at all. Thanks

Hmmm...

I just turn particle effects (? i think thats what its called) down to about 1/4 and texture detail to minimum

i run 1024x768x16 on a gf4mx440 1.2ghz Athlon. Runs fine mostly.. till that bigass nomad battle.
