need help with shiparch.ini

hi i was wondering do you have to compress the shiparch.ini after tweaking it?, i can't seem to get mine to ajust to the new ship tweaks i added, and i was wondering if i had to do this, and if so where and how do i get the compresser, and do it?

no, you don't have to recompress, if you check the file again after you changed it to see if the changes are still there and they are, then you won't see them at the ship dealer because the information there is stored on the infocards. if you change a ship's nanobot and battery limit you can see if you can buy up to the altered limit to check if the changes have taken place.

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots, or only five? Tell you the truth, in all the excitement I kind of lost track myself. Being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful hand gun in the world, it'll take your head clean off. So you gotta ask yourself one question - do I feel lucky? Well......do ya? Punk?

No, you don't have to recompress it. Once decompressed as .ini.txt you will need to *rename* it as .ini, but the game reads the ascii version just fine.

First of all, anyone who hasn't, do yourself a huge freaking favor by going (in any explorer window) to tools->folder options->view tab and UNcheck "hide file extensions for known file types".

Nexxxt, you should DELETE the original when you uncompress it. The uncompressed version works just as good. I am assuming you HAVE backed up your old files somewhere anyways--you should. Then when you rename the .ini.txt file to .ini, it will work just fine.

Oh, and btw, that's why it didn't work--FL only reads the .ini file, it does NOT read any .ini.txt files.
