is there ANY way to transfer characters between servers?

is there a 'mod' or program' where it tells you (or does it for you) how to move one player from server to server.
IE: i have a friend who wants to join my LAN server, but he wants to use his save which is on his server. Can i get him to join, and edit the files in any way so he starts off, with his other save, on my server?
(that way we can both have Sabers!)
this is just so when he does join, i dont have to give him £££££££££ to get him a good ship etc.

if there isnt a mod, can someone tell me how to do it myself?

probably not, but you could just have start a new char. and help him out on good paying jobs. Maybe be his escort.

yes. You need to have your character file sent to the new server though.

It isn't that difficult to give him enough paper to get the sabre. He'll have to do the work to buy the stuff and get the desired rep with the puter players. Just hand over a mill and be done with it. Make him pay you back later if you want.

Yes there is a way to copy a character, but its long winded and only works on servers you have full access to.

firstly it isn't easy to figure out where the character is actually stored
("my documents\my games\freelancer\saves\" or some thing similar, i am at work; can't check)

Characters are stored in folders with very unfriendly names.
eg. "8745-23923"
each of these folders relates to someones login on the server, files with in this folder relate to thier characters. To copy the character you need to know the correct folder to place them in on the server you wish to connect to.
You need to have logged onto both servers in order for your folders to have been generated by the game. both servers will have different names for your login (great!)

once you have figured out which files to copy where and have copied them you can log in and play with your favourite character!

Personally I would have thought that saving characters locally would have been better. Also I don't think you can move characters to and from single player.

thats vewry good, but i have tried it (or something similer)

I did:
get him to join my server (as a new character)
found the new folder on my comp.
copied the info from his server file to this new folder

didnt work.
i think thats what you said to do......
