THE GODS ARE ANGRY!

The gods of freelancer have turned against me! I am an avid MODder, but the gods keep me from advancing!

I tried installing the liberty dreadnaught. My first attempt at making it available for me was by using the tutorial and manually inserting lines into the INI files. So I edited the files myself. I started the game and bought the ship. Then I took off from Manhattan and...

...it CRASHED! <ominous music>

Then I tried a different approach. I download the MOD and used Freelancer MOD manager v1.1 and installed the mod. I started the game and before it even got to the menu...

...it CRASHED!! <more annoying ominous music>

So pissed off and desperate I tried dowloading the mod, stripping it of it's INI files and putting them in the right place, and THEN using the mod. Unfortunately, just as the game started...

...it...oh, you get the idea.

So now I'm stuck with my game crashing everytime it starts up. Will some tell me HOW CAN I INSTALL THIS LIBERTY DREADNAUGHT WITHOUT CRASHING MY GAME? I must appease the freelancer gods before it's too late!

Your current problem, where it crashes before loading the menu, is caused by a bad line in the ini's. The likely culprit is an unclosed [ bracket or an uncommented comment. You'll have to search all of the modified ini's for that problem.

The problem with launching could be a number of things, depending on the situation. More details are required. Once you get things back up and running, and you put the ship back into the game, I suggest stripping it of its addon's in goods.ini. Leave it with a scanner, a power plant, an engine, etc, but strip all of the weapons from it, and whatever else may be there, and then keep trying all of the different custom items that were added to it, one at a time, to see what the problem is.

Another problem is that your autosave, and any other save game where you have this modded ship will crash the game before the menu even opens, unless you have that mod installed. Maybe that is your problem

TO THOSE OF YOU THAT HAVE THE LIBERTY DREADNAUGHT INI FILES IN YOUR GAME!

If you have the INI files for the liberty dreadnaught and it is working for you, could you send the necessary INI files over somehow? I would really appreciate it, because I could just replace my current INI files and actually make ONE mod work.

By the way, is it possible for information from one INI file to conflict with another?

dude go to mydoc/mygames/freelancer/accts/singleplayer and then delete all of the save files and it should work.

or just reinstall the recently uninstalled mod, delete the auto save at the main menu, uninstall the mod, and then reinstall whatever your trying to do. better than deleting every save.

You don't actually have to delete all of your saved games, just the autosave. Be warned: loading a saved game (saved without any mods), with another mod activated will cause the game to crash. I find it easiest if you just use the OpenSP mod and start a new game...if you don't like starting over, then you can use a money cheat or something like that...

-What are you modding today?-
