Question to System Builders, another one

The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

I cannot give you an informed answer here but I guess that the answer would be that the server and the client must have them.

You see you need to add bases to the universe.ini which would be file the server must have and must know the contents off. Plus the base files would cause a crash if a player tried docking with base that did not exist on the server.

Sounds sensible enough, but its weird how you can change where things are sold without the servers being different, eg prices of cargo, cargo locations, equipment, ships....

I was using the how to make a system tutorial and am still finding that my bases dont appear either in a new system or an original one.... I'm rather baffled...

help most welcome

EDIT: To add, i tried it in my own server, SP and another server....

SInce only the player sees planet/base-side things, you can changes those. They are loaded from the client. Anything that other players can see needs to be available on the server.

OK, so would the same be said for changing base names?

Try reading the "building a system from scratch tutorial" it covers all this stuff.

Oh yes and base names are just id names added in the system file.
